Is it just a concept?
Is it a skill?
Is it about the future?
Is it a belief?
Is it about knowledge?
Is it a talent?
Is it a philosophy?
Is it an idea?
Is it a trait?
Don't fall in love with definitions
Can you be optimistic about the past? No, but we can draw on the experiences we have had, to enable us to reflect on our history, whilst looking forward to what lies ahead.
Rather than debating or considering the existence and meaning of Optimism, our counsel would be, don’t bother, it's only a concept. There are various definitions out there and establishing the absolute pure definition (is there one?) may be like looking for dog poo in a forest (sorry); perhaps just move forward and make the most of the benefits associated with Optimism.
Our view is that Optimism is a quality, however, we ‘don’t fall in love with the semantics’. We are more interested in the application and the opportunities to be derived from applying Optimism.
One of the major attributes of Optimism is that it is future-facing and as such, we have the chance to reshape our outlook and perspective of situations going forward.
Making a personal commitment to look at Optimism more closely may be a good start for those who’ve not explored it yet. For those who have, we will endeavour to provide useful content and insights that hopefully are of real value to you.
Of course, at times pessimism comes into play too – we will cover elements of that in relation to the potential downsides of Optimism, at a future point.
Optimists are people who expect good things to happen to them, whilst pessimists are people who envisage negative things will happen to them.
Optimism is a concept that can assist us in seeing and interpreting the world in a way that lifts our spirits and facilitates us to enjoy the opportunities we can generate and share with others, which might create a momentum that brightens our paths!
There is a plethora of ideas relating to Optimism and we will be sharing our content, tips, tools and techniques that aim to take you further.
